Star Wars on stage at Mondorf's Casino 2000 on 26 April
Let the force be with the Harmonie Municipal Mondorf-les-Bains, conducted by Olivier Gravier, on 26 April 2024 at Mondorf-les-Bains Casino 2000, when they pay a tribute to one of the most iconic film soundtracks ever made!
Only a few films share an identity with their music and are globally known for their music. With Star Wars music, John Williams created the most recognizable musical universe ever to accompany a motion picture. In 2005, the American Film Institute named Star Wars soundtrack as the most memorable score of all time for a US film.
John Williams had already been nominated for 11 Academy Awards when he was asked to do the Star Wars soundtrack. No one expected this soundtrack to become the most awarded ever. Star Wars’ soundtrack won five nominations for Academy Awards, one nomination for Golden Globe Awards, to nominations for BAFTA Awards, eleven nominations for Grammy Awards and four nominations for Saturn Awards.
Williams’ use of Wagner-inspired orchestration and leitmotifs – a distinctive musical "voice" for each major character - has made Star Wars as recognisable by ear as it visually, or by name. The familiarity and resonance of the score has grown with each new episode of the series, and Williams has continued to develop new themes to give musical shape to characters and adventures taking place a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
