Chinese construction companies plan to undertake the construction of high-speed railways in Vietnam. The state-owned China Communications Construction Company is interested in major infrastructure projects in Vietnam, including the North-South high-speed railway and urban subway systems. The company's chief executive officer, Wang Haihuai, told Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at a meeting held in Hanoi on Wednesday that the company has been closely following major transportation projects in Vietnam, such as high-speed railways, infrastructure projects connecting China and Vietnam, and the subway networks in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The company is also willing to invest in offshore and marine wind power plants in Vietnam using the latest technologies. The company first carried out business in Vietnam in 1996 and has so far undertaken more than 30 projects with a total value of over 3 billion U.S. dollars, including seaports, offshore wind power plants and industrial zones.
