Change is stressful and change is hard. We have all had that moment when a change or transformation happens, from childhood to teenagerdom, working into retirement, even from being an individual to being a parent. Luckily, during these times we are usually surrounded by friends and a community that helps us through these often challenging times. It is no surprise then that these transformations change us, our brain-wiring, our biochemistry, even our bodies. Think of the caterpillar wrapping itself tightly in its warming cocoon as it prepares for its own transformation. Young people entering Luxembourg and going through their own changes as a refugee or asylum seeker, often leaving behind that community that has always been there often feel quite alone. That cocoon is what Cooperation Nord Sud (CNS) provides for these individuals, reminding us we are never alone during momentous change, CNS is the chrysalis from which they will emerge into a fuller and richer life in Luxembourg.
After what are often treacherous and painful journeys to reach this new destination, it is the building and rebuilding work that must begin. CNS works with these young refugees and Asylum seekers to provide that cocoon and help them as they emerge into the next stage of their lives. Through providing workshops, a social network, language support for school aged children and the creativity of arts, crafts and music to support building of the ever important social connections CNS helps create a true sense of community within these individuals. You too can be part of this wider community (teaching a language, offering an art workshop or just joining the group on a walk) here on our own Luxembourg doorstep.
